Holman Fenwick Willan LLP (HFW) is a global dynamic law firm who specialise in international commerce. They have over 475 lawyers operating in 13 offices across 11 countries.
In 2010, HFW undertook a tender process for its catering services and as a result a new contractor was appointed. The services were generally well received throughout the contract term and good relationships established between both organisations. The contract was due for renewal in July 2014 however a full tender exercise was not considered necessary. As a result HFW employed Ramsay Todd Ltd to conduct a strategic catering review.
The main purpose of the review was to benchmark against similar organisations within the City to provide reassurance that the services were appropriate and achieving value for money. In addition HFW required a strategic overview to establish what the catering services needed to deliver for the new contract term.
A number of activities were provided by Ramsay Todd Ltd to meet the requirements of HFW, which consisted of:
- Observation and testing of all services
- Stakeholder interviews and analysis
- SWOT analysis
- Industry benchmarking
A comprehensive report was produced, which detailed the following:
1. A benchmarking of commercial performance
2. An audit of the current service delivery
3. An analysis of stakeholder engagement
4. Conclusions and recommendations
The report was discussed in detail with both HFW and the contractor and as a result a clear set of objectives and action plan were agreed, in readiness for the commencement of the new contract term.
